Sterling Women was founded in 2008 by Kristina Bouweiri to provide a networking opportunity for business women in the Sterling, Virginia area. Twelve years later, Sterling Women had established itself as the leading women's networking event in the area. In 2020 Kristina asked Cynthia Battino to assume hosting duties each month. Cindy Battino brings a vibrancy and joyfulness to the podium every month, that only an accomplished and certified happiness expert can.

Each month we invite a successful and inspiring business woman to speak to our audience about her personal and professional journey. Our lunches are one hour, starting at noon and ending at 1:00 PM.  Networking will be available from 11:00 AM until noon and again from 1:00 to 1:30 PM.  Vendor tables and exciting door prizes will be featured.

Katie Barchas Wilson, The Market Group, Inc.

Following a decade-long career in financial services, Katie Barchas Wilson founded The Market Group Inc. in 2012 to focus on her true passions: branding, events, promotions and philanthropy. Over the past eight years, she has worked with clients in the media, non-profit, housing, hospitality and retail industries to maximize their reach, increase their brand awareness, and grow their market presence.
Prior to The Market Group Inc., Katie served as Operations Manager for Global Financial Review, a mortgage due-diligence firm, where she honed her skills in marketing, business development, and project management. Katie began her transition from the financial sector to marketing and media in the Fall of 2012, when she joined the team of Northern Virginia Media Services as their Marketing and Events Manager. At NVMS, Katie built/expanded a number of large contests, promotions and events, including the Best of Loudoun, Best of Fairfax, and Best of Prince William polls, along with Loudoun’s “40 Under 40” awards.

In January 2013, Katie launched the High-Heeled Happy Hour, a shoe-themed monthly women’s networking event series. Each High-Heeled Happy Hour honors a female business professional and/or community leader who selects a charity beneficiary for a portion of the event proceeds that evening. To date, High-Heeled Happy Hours and their offshoots-- Stiletto Cinemas, Sole Sister Soirees, and the annual High-Heeled Holiday Parties-- have raised nearly $75,000 for local charities.
In September 2015, Katie was recognized as one of Loudoun's rising stars in Leesburg Today's “40 Under 40” awards. Katie was also named to the “Women 100 List” in Loudoun Business Journal's 2016, 2017, and 2018 “Women Who Mean Business” issues, as well as featured in their “16 to Watch in 16.” Katie was featured in Alimond Studio’s Loudoun 100 in 2017. Most recently, Katie was named 2019 Community Leader of the Year in the Young Professional Category by the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.

Katie currently serves as Chair of Loudoun “40 Under 40,” on the advisory board for Bank of Charles Town, and on the Public Policy and Young Professionals committees for the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce. Katie has served on the board of the DC Chapter of Dress for Success, the House Committee of Loudoun Golf and Country Club, and as the PR and Events Coordinator of the Historic Leesburg Business Alliance.

Katie has a BA in Psychology, a minor in Philosophy, and a certificate in Applied Business from the University of Colorado at Boulder

Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa

I have been attending Sterling Women since its inception 13 years ago. And Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa has been a sponsor for most of those years. While I have frequented numerous networking events over the years, Sterling Women continues to be the most meaningful to me.

I have developed many great friendships by meeting women at Sterling Women, and then getting to know them on a one-to-one basis over coffee, lunch, or a drink. It is always gratifying to look throughout the room at a Sterling Women luncheon and see so many friends.

While Sterling Women has benefited me personally, it has also benefited my businesses. Both the founder, Kristina Bouweiri, and the current host, Cindy Battino, continually promote Radiance Salon & Medi-Spa and provide opportunities for me to bring the Radiance experience to others.

You’ve Got Maids of Northern Virginia

I consider Sterling Women the leading business networking organization in Northern Virginia for woman-led businesses.  As the owner of the highest rated cleaning service in the area, Sterling Women provides a monthly forum to elevate my company’s brand and affords me the opportunity to meet and converse with like-minded business leaders.  Each meeting is an opportunity to learn valuable insights from others that I can apply to my business.

Silver Line Coaching

I decided to participate and be a part of this amazing business networking group because it is such an uplifting and wonderful group of people and while I found that to be confirmed, I also found so much more.  Through the challenging times of COVID, this was a group of people supporting one another and building each other up through the trials and tribulations that were presented around each corner.  If you are looking for a group of strong independent people that will lift you up with them, this is a great group to be a part of.  Thank you Cindy and Sterling Women!
